This past weekend started with a 1-0 win for Binacional over Ayacucho. Hector Zeta did an excellent job for the home side and as soon as he came off for Víctor Ferreyra, the onslaught stopped. It was a deserved victory and probably should have ended with more goals in Moquegua. Ayacucho keep on struggling, and are in the relegation zone due to this horrible run.
This was all because Union Comercio maintained their stellar form and earned a draw in Huancayo. It ended 0-0 with the home side still struggling in front of their own fans. Union Comercio just needed a point to get out of the relegation zone and they did just that.
Also in the relegation battle, Universitario keep on struggling after suffering a 3-0 loss at Sport Rosario who are now officially on top of the table despite the four-point deduction. However, Sporting Cristal and Alianza Lima resting means that they have a game in hand over Rosario.
The last game of the night was Sport Boys playing Universidad San Martin, and they won 3-2 on their anniversary, which is coincidentally the same day as Fiestas Patrias. Boys were 2-1 down with 10 minutes left and managed to turn it around. Right-back Manuel Tejada was magnificent yet again and is on course to be on our team of the year.
On Sunday there were only two games. Deportivo Municipal took advantage of a poor afternoon from Melgar and won 4-0, with all four goals coming in the first half. While Melgar were shocking, Edil were almost perfect with their defensive shape and good counter-attacks. This puts Muni second for now, also with a game ahead of Cristal and Alianza. Lastly, Real Garcilaso beat Comerciantes Unidos at home, sending Los Cutervinos to the abyss even more.
